Kaizer Chiefs attacker Khama Billiat says they need to handle pressure well when they play in the Nedbank Cup, which offers their final shot at winning a knockout competition this season.
The Nedbank Cup is due to begin towards the end of January and Amakhosi are set to face ABC Motsepe League outfit Tornado FC.
It’s an opportunity for the Soweto giants to end their trophy drought, but they are not going to neglect the Absa Premiership, which they still believe is within their reach.
“The fact that it is the second last tournament it brings more pressure and it’s about how we are going to take that pressure. If we go there more desperate, then it’s not going to work for us. We need to know how to approach the tournament because it’s going to be in between the league games. We have to go with an understanding that this is a knockout tournament and how we are going to approach that,” Billiat said.
“At the same time we have to be professional when we play the Nedbank because it’s the last one, but we can’t play with pressure because we won’t express ourselves. We just need to do our best.”
Chiefs begin their year with a league clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday. – KickOff
