Chelsea boss Antonio Conte ignored a waiting Jose Mourinho after his side completed a 1-0 win against Manchester United. Alvaro Morata’s second half header gave the Blues a deserved win at Stamford Bridge against a lacklustre United side.
Mourinho and Conte shook hands before the game but the Italian refused to make eye contact with his Portuguese foe. The pair clashed last season after Mourinho accused Conte of ‘over-celebrating’ in their 4-0 win and there was clearly no love lost between the pair again this time around. Unusually after a defeat, Mourinho was seen waiting outside the tunnel for Conte to shake hands but the Italian completely ignored him during his wild celebrations at the final whistle.
Mourinho confirmed after the defeat that he did not shake hands with Conte and instead did so with the Italian’s backroom staff. ‘No he disappeared,’ said Mourinho. ‘So I shook with his assistants which for me is basically the same.’- Metro
